World of Warcraft savagery in China

Those who know me, would know by now that I really don’t devote my time towards the more competitive aspects of trading card games (TCGs).

I love TCGs and all, but I don’t love it that much, to be perfectly honest. Nothing beats the experience of squaring off against each other using a random mix of cards, without the need to be absolutely ruthlessly determined to wipe out my opponent under five turns or less.

Anyway, if competitive TCGs are your thing, for the World of Warcraft (WoW) specifically, then check out Cryptozoic’s latest Asia Pacific Continental Championship 2012 coverage on its website, here, all the way from Beijing, China.

Am already seeing plenty of interesting uses for the new cards. The useful interactions mentioned in the article by Jonathan Lee-Mars, “Sentinel Savagery”, enlightened me enough to make myself go, say, isn’t it time to hit some Tomb of the Forgottten booster packs already? The new stuff looks fricking epic!

Anyway, who’s building a Death Knight deck now?

Is Magic 2013 worth buying?

So by now you would have seen the bulk of the Magic 2013 previews. Wizards of the Coast just started officially previewing the first official spoilers, but if you look hard enough, most, if not all the cards, are already available for viewing, somewhere in the interwebs.

What does everyone think? I no longer play and collect, but IMHO I do see why some fans are disappointed. The card pool looks mixed at best, despite several new incarnations of planeswalkers, and the return of the almighty Nicol Bolas, in his planeswalker iteration.

The dual lands prove to be disappointing, but on the flipside, it matches what Wizards set out to do, which is to maintain the ease of entry for the new guys. The experienced can probably skip this set, and not be hurt very much by it – or so I think.

At the very least, people will be wondering about the next block, Return to Ravnica. Will it rock? Well, I’ll continue to keep my distance from Magic, and concentrate on the World of Warcraft TCG. Much better art methinks!

First looks at Tomb of the Forgotten

World of Warcraft Trading Card Game (or WoW TCG in short) would be pumped as hell over the arrival of the latest expansion set!

Now that us Malaysians have another steady WoW TCG supplier to count on, it’s time to crack open more packs, and enjoy the new loot.

One of the better ways to enjoy WoW TCG is undoubtedly by buying the Epic Collection. It’s great value as you get a cool playmat, a bunch of booster packs, and some shiny stuff, all locked in a nice sturdy box that has class separators for you to sort your budding card collection.

I bought one in Worldbreaker, and I still love the box. Well, curious? Then get the lowdown from local WoW TCG, Team CyberWOW, on what the deal is, for the latest set’s Epic Collection, here! Convinced yet? ;-)

M13 spoilers abound

It’s been a long time coming for Magic: the Gathering fans, but another new core set beckons!

This time, it’s M13, and this has been confirmed for some months now. Except, that it’s now spoiler season for a brand-new core set.

Officially, the Wizards of the Coast website MagictheGathering.com has already kicked things off by lining up M13 spoilers alongside its previews for the latest edition electronic game, Duels of the Planeswalkers 2013.

Well, the set’s still a month away from release but there’s already a whole bunch of spoilers all over the inter-webs: check out GatheringMagic.com for a comprehensive dose of it.

M13 releases globally on July 13, with pre-release events hitting us the weekend before.

WoW TCG now back in Comics Corner

Well, straight after I raved about the new incoming WoW TCG expansion set, there’s more good news. Your friendly games stockist and hangout Comics Corner will be filling us with supplies of the new set, Tomb of the Forgotten, this month onwards!

Better yet, there they now have stocks of the newer recent expansions, Crown of Heavens and Throne of the Tides. And, Champion Decks too!

Well, for the record, supply of WoW TCG even in the Klang Valley has never been the most plentiful. Am glad to note theis positive change in this, as more stocks should feed us fanboys well enough!

Will it mean that we will now have another place to participate in sanctioned events, crack packs and win cool premium cards? Let’s see what happens next shall we? ;-)
