IF you hear an exceptionally loud cheer from the audience stands at the CHEER 2015 finals this Saturday, it might just be YouTuber Reuben Kang showing support for his team.

Kang, a CHEER Celebrity Supporter for Team Dynamitez of SMK Damansara Jaya, is just as excited as the participants of the biggest cheerleading event in the country.

“From my experience attending past CHEER events, the atmosphere will be crazy! I’m so excited to see how loud the crowd can be. I also want to be there to witness Dynamitez being crowned champions,” he said.

Kang is part of a bevy of celebs assigned to six cheer teams for the CHEER Celebrity Supporter project. As part of the project, the celebs visited their adopted teams at their respective schools to give them motivation and moral support.

Going out of his way to further inspire his team, Kang invited Dynamitez over for coffee after the finals at his cafe, Morningwood, which he co-owns with fellow celeb supporters Jared Lee and Marianne Tan.

“I am coming this Saturday and I’ll be screaming the loudest – so loud that the whole convention centre will hear me!” he promised.

Meanwhile, the other celeb supporters are just as enthusiastic to see the results of the cheerleaders’ months of hard work.

Dennis Yin, celeb supporter for Calyx All-Girls of SMJK Katholik wants to see his team give their all, if not more.

“I hope they have improved their synchronisation and energy levels, and will be able to complete all their stunts,” he said.

Yin also advised them to rest well the day before their set because they’ll have to give their all during the two minute-long routine.

“Save your energy so you’ll be able to give 300% during showtime,” he advised. “Remember, I’ll be watching.”

Kang and Yin are not the only celebrities who will be there at the finals. Red FM deejay Jeremy Teo, celebrity supporter for Team Anselm of SMK Infant Jesus Convent said that he will show some “extra love” to his team during their routines.

As Teo is also the co-host of the CHEER 2015 finals (together with fellow Red FM deejay Terry Ong), his “extra love” will be in the form of covert cheers as he has to remain impartial throughout the event.

“I might wear the supporter T-shirt just before the event starts. But after that, I’ll remain neutral for the rest of the routines,” he said.

With just a few days to the finals, some celeb supporters have been amping up their support by sending love to their teams via social media.

Prakash Daniel, celeb supporter for Zodiac Co-Ed of SMK Kepong has been sending motivational texts to his team to bring their spirits up during these final weeks.

He is also planning to share some photos taken during the school visit on his Facebook page as a reminder to the team of the good times they shared.

“Although I won’t be able to make it for the finals, I just want to tell them to keep on doing what they’ve been doing, because no matter what, they’re champions in my heart,” said Prakash.

Red FM deejay JJ Fernandez shares Prakash’s positivity, and believes that his team’s hard work and sacrifice will pay off.

JJ and his partner-in-crime, Red FM deejay Ezra Mei are celeb supporters for Team Cyrens of SM Sri KL. “I hope the girls get to show the perfect routine they’ve been training so hard for.

“Don’t worry about anything else but getting the moves right. If you do that, no one can take away that personal victory,” he said.

Mei hoped to see the cheerleaders display sportmanship and positivity.

“At the end, everyone has the same goal, which is to win, but keep it classy and stay positive,” she said.

Regardless of the outcome, the most meaningful thing any of the celeb supporters can offer is constant, unwavering support.

As YouTuber Joseph Germani said to his adopted team, Muriel from SMK (P) Pudu, “I believe in all of you. Always remember that I’m your biggest fan rooting for you.”
