Cristiano Ronaldo to leave Madrid?

A couple of tabloids have reported that Ronaldo will leave Real Madrid for 150 million pounds after a falling out with manager Jose Mourinho.

The Portuguese ace is said to have had a disagreement with Mourinho over tactics, and there were hints of discontent when Ronaldo said he “didn’t like the (defensive) tactics” his manager used against Barcelona during the Champions League semi-final.

Ronaldo currently has an impossible 900 million pound buy-out clause in his contract, but the same reports are saying that 150 million will do it for Madrid.

Not buying it

If you asked me, I think it’s total bullsh*t. For one, Madrid would rather fire Mourinho than sell Ronaldo. Sounds crazy, but that’s the kind of club they are. It’s Galacticos over the managers.

Secondly, no club in the world – not even Manchester City – would pay 150 million pounds for one player. That’s almost double what Real paid when they signed him from Manchester United, and that was already a transfer record by quite some distance.

Even if Man City do decide to make a bid, they’ll have to give him a huge pay rise to even consider joining them. Ronaldo has maintained a good relationship with United fans since he left the club, and has often spoken about his bromance with Alex Ferguson, so it would take a sh*tload of cash to make him join United’s bitter city rivals.

Plus, he already earns over 200,000 pounds a week now with Real Madrid. By that reckoning, City will have to offer at least 350,000 pounds a week, and considering club captain Carlos Tevez is widely reported to have a clause in his contract that ensures he’s the highest-paid player in Man City, the club will be shelling out more than 700,000 pounds A WEEK on just two players. They already pay Yaya Toure around 220,000 pounds.

I don’t care how much money them Abu Dhabi dudes have, that does NOT make sense.

Even if we ignored the exaggerated figures, why would Madrid want to sell their best player? He has scored 38 goals in the league this season, more than Lionel Messi, and he plays with teammates that create far fewer chances than Messi’s array of creative co-stars in Barcelona.

Ronaldo is as indispensable as a player can be. Madrid’s attempt to overhaul their bitter rivals has already failed, but they would never have had a chance in the first place without Ronaldo.

Not so special at Madrid

Mourinho on the other hand, judging by Madrid’s recent track record, is very much dispensable. He’s already had run-ins with the club president, and his widely-professed love for the English game has made it infinitely clear he didn’t view his Madrid gig as a long-term one – something that could now work against him.

And there seems to be an unprecedented amount of top management talent in the market who are either unemployed or in transition right now that could take Mourinho’s place.

Rafa Benitez, Marcelo Lippi, Frank Rijkaard, Carlo Ancelotti (very soon, if Abramovic sticks to character) and of course the great Sam Allardyce (kidding!) are all without jobs; while Sven-Goran Eriksson, Guus Hiddink and Luis Felipe Scolari shouldn’t be too hard to tempt away from their posts at Leicester City, Turkey and Palmeiras respectively.

Don’t put it beyond Real Madrid to hire the “New Special One”, Porto manager Andre Villas-Boas, just to annoy Mourinho either. Villas-Boas helped Porto to the Portuguese league title without losing a single match and also claimed the Europa League.

Villas-Boas has recently pledged his future to Porto, but if Real Madrid came calling, don’t expect him to hang around too long.

Real Madrid have had their best season in a very long time thanks to Mourinho. Furthermore, Real have been up against the best team ever constructed in the form of Barcelona. With this in mind, they still managed to take the Copa Del Rey. Real could of made it to the Champions League final if it wasn’t for Barca’s obvious advantage with regards to the referees and UEFA. Anyone who disputes this must be a Barca fan. This isn’t to discredit Barca for being the awesome team that they are, but who is really going to do a better job than Mourinho? He is undoubtedly the best manager around and it’s only his first season with the most difficult club in the world to manage. Ronaldo is a force of nature, enough said. Therefore, I think Senor Perez fully well knows that both Mourinho and Ronaldo are indespensable and my prediction is that (if Mourinho and Ronaldo have a rift in the first place) it will be amicably resolved and a thing of the past. I expect both figures to be at Real next season and I think Barca have peaked whilst Madrid will only get better, thus you wouldn’t put it pass Mourinho and gang to bag the treble next season.

So true. Real had a good season but only foiled by decisions made by referees. Though we can blame the referees all day long it will not be fair to credit Barcelona for their talent in Oscar winning elite acting skills. It is not a myth but Barcelona did create the new football skill which is called “The Falling, Rolling and Covering face skill” which only real champions like Barca can learn it. Example: Mascherano (Liverpool) can only stay up on his feet and has 0% Oscar quality but Masherano (Barca version) not only he cannot stay up on his feet, he has not achieve 359% Oscar quality. Truly remarkable improvement.

For the up coming Champions league final, we all know Barca is going to win. They are the best team in the world. The final verdict: Barca 1 ManU 0. After 782 dives, 39 penalty claims, 3ManU players send off and 1 penalty goal, Barca to overwhelmingly lift the cup. Kudos to the best team in the entire universe.

Well you do not know Arabs yet, you talk about two Portuguese personalities in a Spanish environment. You forget Spain is in dead need of cash, so too will be Real soon, the Banks are in no position to finance big buys, so there are many possibilities.
Arabs are crazy, moreover they are to host the World Cup, and Man City will be the testimonial they require to publicise what they are capable of, money now flows out of the tap in gallons each day, millions of gallons and that is “Oil” so the amount you are talking about are really chicken feed to these Arabs, and yes they’ll sack Tavez sooner rather then later, Mancini has already begun banging the drums, not that it would not be able to afford him but paying him more the Ronaldo is a no, no!
If there is anyone who should be careful in this entire exercise it should be Ronaldo, for all he is worth he can turn out to look useless if he does not blend in with the rest of Manchester City, remember there are two brothers in that team who are very influential, one of the Yaya Toure is being paid more then what Ronaldo is earning presently and if they do not click with him he is a gonna or City is.
It is the blend that matters, and even if you have the best players at MC it can fail and it can fail miserably as Abrhamovich has discovered.

Yes I agree with the guy who agrees with me. You forgot to mention the Higuain goal vs Barca (2nd leg semis)that was disallowed for no apparent reason. “Ka ching, I hear money in my pocket.” said Mr You know who

Thus that brings me to the final game of the season. A game that will take your breath away, a clash of titanic proportions. You have Guardiola vs Ferguson (Leonardo Da Vincci vs The Last King of Scotland). I won’t begin to list the names of superstars on one pitch. 2 clubs so succesful that if you owned both, you could sell them off and buy yourself an island the size of Singapore. There’s a lot of hype over how Man Utd are going to pull this off with home country advantage and revengeful objectives. It could happen. But I doubt it. Your more likely to see a game dominated by Barca possesion and barca goals. You just get this feeling that Barca are going to showcase an absolute spectacle of football, diving, and oscar winning moments. Not to mention a lesson in footabll governing politics.

I think Mourinho’s one of the best, and he’s definitely done a good job at Real. Anyone who can get close to Barca at the moment deserves credit.

But based on Real’s track record with managers, I think they’re crazy enough to fire him, like they did with Manuel Pellegrini. He managed a record points total for the club, 96, but still got fired.

Like u said, they’ll most likely resolve any differences and try to move on (which is why I think the story is bullsh*t to begin with).

But if something had to give, my money would be on Mourinho, especially after his falling out with the president.

Players are the bigger commodity in football these days. A choice between the best manager in the world and the best (ok, second best) and most expensive player in the world would usually end in favour of the latter.

    *************************

AND, as for United vs. Barca, I actually think United have a good chance! Madrid has already shown that Barca can be shackled in a one-off cup tie during the Copa Del Rey.

PLUS, Mourinho’s tactics were working against Barca in the Champions League too, until ANOTHER refereeing decision went Barca’s way with the red card. Mourinho explained exactly what he wanted to do – defend for 0-0 until later in the game, then he would change to a 4-3-3 formation with one playmaker in central midfield.

I think if it wasn’t for the red card, Mourinho would have gotten something out of that game with his tactics. He almost always does.

Ferguson is capable of getting that same kind of disciplined defensive performance from his team, and with Chicharito and Rooney up front, they’re more than capable of stealing a goal against a Barca defense that has rarely been put to the test.
