Miley Cyrus is making headlines for all the wrong reasons … again. The singer, who turned 19 last week, is being blasted for a speech she gave at her birthday party, thrown by her BFF Kelly Osbourne.

A recording of the speech, which has gone viral on the Internet, shows Miley saying: “You know you’re a stoner when friends make you a Bob Marley cake – you know you smoke way to much *bleep* weed.”

Kelly then jumps in and adds: “I thought Salvia was your problem”, making reference to Miley’s drug-related incident which happened last year.

Naturally, parents all over the world are unhappy as the video kind of shows Miley as a drug-loving party gal – which her friend Kelly says she absolutely is not.

Kelly took to Twitter to defend her best friend and said: “let me make something very clear after @MileyCyrus salvia incident we started calling her bob miley as a JOKE! the cake was also A JOKE! it makes me sick that @MileyCyrus so called ‘friends’ would sell her out and lead people 2 believe she is someone that she is not!”

Kelly also tweeted: “u guys if @MileyCyrus is not recording/filming/touring she is works everyday how could she possible do all that if she was a stoner! #think”

Sharm says: Is it wrong for me to be more worried about Kelly’s grammar and syntax?

Thrifty shopper … not

While everyone in the United States was taking the opportunity to shop at bargain prices during Black Friday (the day after Thanksgiving and traditionally the beginning of Christmas shopping season), Paris Hilton proved that she would rather pay full price for the things she wants.

Last Friday, the entrepreneur walked into a car retalier and drove home a brand new RM955,000 red Ferrari, adding to her already huge collection of expensive cars.

Paris owns several Mercedes-Benzes, Lexuses and even has a Bentley, in pink, too.

Sharm says: Paris, you do realise that no matter how many cars you own, you can only drive one at a time, right?

Near miss

It cannot be denied that people are curious to see what would actually happen if Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston bump into each other. Well, it almost happened last weekend.

The paparazzi caught Jennifer and her boyfriend Justin Theroux entering the cinema a few minutes after Brad emerged with four of his children – Maddox, Pax, Zahara and Shiloh.

All of them were at the movies to catch Martin Scorcese’s latest flick Hugo.

Sharm says: Well, I for one think that Brad and Jenny would greet each other and get on with their own business. No dramas.

A real life hero

Oh, now we know why Catherine Middleton loves Prince William. Not only is he a dashing prince who is second in line to the British throne, but he’s a hero in real life as well.

The Duke of Cambridge, who is a Royal Air Force helicopter pilot, was involved in a rescue mission last Sunday when a cargo ship sank in the Irish Sea.

The four-man rescue team, which included the prince, pulled to safety two of the ship’s crew members. The ship, carrying eight people and 3,000 tonnes of limestone capsized in the middle of the sea before the rescue team arrived.

Sharm says: Now how do I get to the Irish Sea? I, too, want to be rescued by a prince.

Baby makes three

Former wild child Lily Allen welcomed her first child with husband, businessman Sam Cooper, and she cannot be more excited about it.

The pop singer who had suffered two miscarriages previously tweeted “Totes amaze” after the news of her giving birth broke.

Her ex-boyfriend DJ Seb Chew however, kind of confirmed the news by tweeting: “sending out love to lily, sam and mini cooper … YES!”

Lily and her husband announced their baby news during their wedding reception in June this year.

They had previously lost a baby boy after six months into Lily’s pregnancy last year. The singer had also suffered a miscarriage several years ago.

Sharm says: They should totally name their baby Minnie Cooper. I like.

New cougar in town

So it is confirmed – Jennifer Lopez is a cougar. Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

The 42-year-old singer/actress was spotted spending Thanksgiving with her back-up dancer Casper Smart in Kauai, Hawaii, and the couple couldn’t get their hands off each other.

Bystanders noted that Jenny was super affectionate with her 24-year-old beau, who was last seen dancing alongside the singer at her recent American Music Awards appearance.

Casper was also seen being very hands-on and paternal with the singer’s twins while vacationing with the family over the weekend.

Sharm says: Jennifer dating one of her back up dancers. Wait, didn’t this happen before? Cris Judd … is that you?

WE CAN all agree that Twitter is an excellent place for everyone to communicate with their idols. It is the best and easiest way for anyone to find out just what their favourite celebrities are up to, and then well … erm, gossip about it.

The best part is, not only can we get the celeb news straight from the horse’s mouth, we can also communicate with our idols through the social networking site.

All we have to do is @mention a celebrity (provided that it’s their verified Twitter account and it is public) and we can believe that we are talking directly to our idols and that they listen to us.

Whether they actually read all their messages is, however, a different matter altogether. And when they actually reply to our Tweets, it totally makes our day, week and maybe even year!

Unfortunately, Twitter is not always good to its celebrity users. Sometimes, it is the very place where they get into trouble and even receive unnecessary negativity from other Twitterers. There are many instances when a celebrity’s long list of followers turn into their worst haters and there’s usually nothing these celebrities could do about it.

Friends turned foes

Ashton Kutcher was one one of the first few celebrities who understood the impact Twitter could make on people’s lives. He tweeted about everything and anything (he had even posted pictures of Demi Moore’s derriere, covered of course, online) and got many of his celebrity friends onboard the Twitter train.

He also competed with former talk-show host Larry King to see which one of them who could reach one million followers on Twitter – and he won.

Of course, now it is the eccentric singer Lady Gaga who reigns on the Twitterverse with over 16 million followers. Ashton has only about half of that number.

Anyway, Ashton who had always been vocal and active on Twitter made a surprising announcement recently, saying that he won’t be tweeting from his account anymore. He’s handing over the account to a management team and had made that decision right after one of his tweets caused a major firestorm last week.

“How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in poor taste.” was all he had asked his followers, not knowing that Jo Pa (Joe Paterno, a former college football coach) was involved in a child abuse scandal.

After realising his mistake, Ashton deleted his Tweet and wrote this on his blog:

“I walked by the television and simply saw a headline that Joe Paterno had been fired. Having no more information than that, I assumed that he had been fired due to poor performance as an aging coach.

“As a football fan and someone who had watched Joe’s career move from that of legend/innovator to a head coach that fulfilled his duty in the booth, I assumed that the university had let him go due to football related issues.

“With that assumption (how dare I assume) I posted a tweet defending his career. I then wetn about my evening, had some dinner, did a little work, and about an hour later turned on ESPN where I got the full story.

“I quickly went back on my twitter account and found a hailstorm of responses calling me an ‘idiot’ and several other expletives that I’ve become accustom to hearing for almost anything I post. I quickly retracted and deleted my previous post; however, that didn’t seem enough to satisfy people’s outrage at my misinformed post. I am truly sorry.”

But the apology wasn’t good enough for his followers who kept insulting him for what they thought was a tweet supporting situations that allow child molestation.

Guess Ashton had had enough with all the negativity, and therefore decided to hand over his Twitter account to a third party. He also said:

“While I will continue to express myself through @Aplusk, I’m going to turn the management of the feed over to my team at Katalyst as a secondary editorial measure, to ensure the quality of its content.”

Fighting back

Well, there’s one celebrity who wants to prove that she won’t allow herself to be bullied on Twitter (again) and that’s none other than Miley Cyrus.

Miley first quit Twitter last year when she couldn’t handle the amount of bullying from haters online. Then she had a change of heart and reactivated her Twitter account, vowing she won’t let the negativity bring her down again. She wanted to tweet for her real fans.

Last week however, Miley’s determination was tested when she received a tweet from a follower who taunted the singer for putting on weight.

Not one to be pushed around, Miley fought back with this tweet: “By calling girls like me fat this is what you’re doing to other people. i love MYSELF & if you could say the same.” and posted a photo of an anorexic woman.

She then also posted a photo of full-figured Marilyn Monroe, which prompted this reply from fellow Disney starlet Demi Lovato: “@MileyCyrus AMEN!!!! god I love you. SO DO YOU!!! And whoever called you that has it coming. Miss you more than ever. ps SO proud of you for posting that! #curvesareBEAUTIFUL.”

Miley then replied to her best friend with this: “@ddlovato AMEN! I will destroy any one that ever calls you the F word. You have the SEXIIIESTTTT curvyyyy body! I LOVE IT! #werkthosecurves.”

THE one question that is on everybody’s mind right now is whether Kim Kardashian is really getting back with Kris Humphries.

That is because there’s a new rumour circulating in the Internet that Kim is thinking about staying with her estranged hubby of less than 100 days.

If that is to really happen, there is no saying what the public would do to that crazy, attention seeking “celebrity”.

As much as everyone would be happy to hear the news of any marriage saved, no one can be sure if her fans are ready to show Kim such love.

Sharm says: Ugh, seriously. Is Ryan Seacrest going to make a show about them getting back together?

Old flame rekindled

There were stories of Charlie Sheen getting back with his ex-wife Denise Richards after he bought a house close to her home and they were seen having dinner together. Guess what? It ain’t happening. Denise, best known for her role in…uhm, what was she in again? Oh…Wild Things is actually back with her ex-boyfriend Richie Sambora.

Richie, a member of Bon Jovi once left his wife Heather Locklear to be with Denise. Let’s hope that this time, it’ll work out between those two.

Sharm says: I’m betting that Denise and Richie will stay together for more than 72 days.

Best date ever

Remember that Marine chick who asked Justin Timberlake to be her date to the Marine Corps Ball? Well, the ball took place last Saturday and Justin made good on his promise.

The In Time actor actually took Corporal Kelsey De Santis to the Ball after accepting her request, which she made via YouTube. And for once and all, JT proved that he’s a real gentleman.

While there is no news as to how the date actually went, there are stories that Kelsey and Justin did indeed have a lovely time that night.

Sharm says: Brad Pitt, would you be my date to any Christmas party this year?

Another accomplishment

We know that Oprah Winfrey could do no wrong and that she’s the best humanitarian in the world (right after Angelina Jolie, of course).

The media mogul was recently awarded with the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Governors Awards Jean Hersholt Humanitarian Award. That pretty much means that Oprah won an Oscar for all the good things she’s done throughout her lifetime.

During the untelevised show, Oprah was seen crying as the presenters of the award spoke of her generosity which includes providing scholarships for 65,000 students.

Sharm says: When I grow up, I want to be as rich as Oprah and as hot as Angelina. Kthxbai.

Smell like boardwalk

You know that pesky little thing that everyone wish would just disappear soon? Yes, that Snooki person is not only still around, she has even found a way to stretch her 15 minutes of fame even longer.

The tiny celebrity (no, seriously) has just released her own fragrance which she said smells of everything that reminds her of Jersey Shore, US.

So we can expect the scent, creatively named as Snooki, to remind us of tanning lotion, boardwalk, sand and skanks? Well, it sure would smell much better that the pickle scent she initially chose for her maiden fragrance.

Sharm says: Who in their right mind would want to smell like anything out of that Jersey Shore reality TV show?

Dance buddies no more

* Won't work with no divas *

Lady Gaga has fired her long time dance choreographer LaurieAnn Gibson after what sources claim to be a bitter fight between the two.

LaurieAnn (from the Dance Scene) is a famous dance choreographer who has worked with tonnes of celebrities like Diddy and Britney Spears.

It was rumoured that the dancer couldn’t get along with the Mama Monster anymore, and that Gaga was tired of the former’s diva attitude.

Sharm says: Oh well, two divas can never work together…ever.

Guess what guys? Indian actor Surya was in Kuala Lumpur yesterday to promote his latest movie 7aam Arivu and I was there to meet him.

Okay, I wasn’t the only one who got to see him. There were many other reporters in that room, and some of them were clearly his die-hard fans.

(ps: I haven’t watched the movie but judging from its ticket sales, the movie is making blockbuster history left and right.)

The actor was very pleasant and enthustiastic, especially when speaking about his latest film 7aam Arivu – which is loosely based on the history of Damo the Indian Monk, who trained with the Shaolin Monks in China.

“We (the director and I) wanted to do a movie that wasn’t just an entertaining piece, but something educational as well,” he said during the press conference.

The actor, whose father Sivakumar is also a famous actor in the Tamil movie scene, went through a major transformation (physically and mentally) while shooting this film.

“I had not heard about Damo, an Indian man worshipped in China, until I signed up for this movie. The more I researched about him, the more I understood the cultural values he stood for,” he said.

He also added the younger generation shouldn’t be ignorant about Damo’s contribution to the world, thus why he feels 7aam Arivu is able to educate people on this matter.

“We can’t use the media, in this instance a movie, as a preaching tool, but we can definitely use it to send a positive message to the audience,” he said.

The movie is currently banned in Sri Lanka, but Surya said that the restriction shouldn’t be taken negatively.

“Every censor board has its own limitations.”

7aam Arivu also features Shruti Hassan, daughter of the legendary actor Kamal Hassan, and this marks the first time the duo has appeared in a movie together.

“Shruti is a very confident actress and always wanted to give her best in every scene. It was great working with her,” said Surya.

The actor is currently married to India’s former sweetheart Jyothika and they have two children together.
