POP superstar Datuk Siti Nurhaliza may be a well-established name in the music scene, but even showbiz veterans like her get #mindblown on occasion – which is exactly what happened at CHEER 2014.

“I’m so impressed with the young people here!” exclaimed Siti, as she addressed the CHEER 2014 crowd to wild cheers. “I can’t wait to see all the stunts!”

And see the stunts she did. The cheerleaders flipped, flew and cheered like never before, filling the entire stadium with infectious energy. Even Siti, who has no doubt seen some seriously impressive performances in her almost 20 years in the business, was amazed by what she saw. “After seeing the performances by the awesome students, I wish I was 20 years younger! I would have joined you guys!” she said, to even more cheers from the crowd.

With Siti herself being an athletic student when she was in school, it is unsurprising that her cosmetics brand SimplySiti – the co-sponsor of CHEER 2014 together with U Mobile – has an emphasis on teamwork and determination.

“At SimplySiti, our tagline is ‘It’s All About You’,” she said. “It’s about you as an individual, and you working together as a team. That’s the reason why we are happy to support CHEER. It is in line with the principles we abide by in our company.”

Sadly, her busy schedule only permitted her to spend about an hour at CHEER, but before she left, she dropped an exciting bombshell: she wants to invite some of the best cheerleading teams to perform with her at her next concert, which is still in the planning stages.

“I think it would be an interesting concept! Nobody has incorporated a cheerleading team in a concert.

“I’m always on the lookout for something different and unique,” she said.

Siti is no stranger to collaborating to create unique performances. She cited her previous performance with a group that turns everyday items into percussion instruments, and one where she performed with beatboxers.

“So, I was thinking, maybe I’ll invite the winners of CHEER2014 to come and perform with me as part of the concert’s concept!”

Above and beyond winning, SimplySiti also stands for self-expression and creativity, which CHEER 2014 definitely had in abundance, thanks to the amazing teams.

“It’s not just about winning a trophy. SimplySiti is about you expressing yourself through your creativity,” Siti said.
