THE GOssip began in the Klang Valley and now, it has gone to Penang. No, we're not talking about rumours, but the a series of youth events under Project GOssip that is taking place in the northern state now.
Last Sunday, Project GOssip treated 120 under privileged children to a fun day filled with exciting events like a treasure hunt and skating, and loads of pizzas, at Queensbay Mall. On Wednesday, the team visited Penang Free School with Malaysian AIDS Council (MAC) to run an interactive training on HIV and AIDS through music and dance.
With its three-prong approach dubbed Go Safe, Go Away and Go Celebrate, Project GOssip was started by a bunch of youths from Summer Sands Productions to educate youths and inspire advocacy on the issues like domestic violence and HIV and AIDS prevention.
It also highlights the contribution of women to the society, passing the message with the help of its NGO partners All Women's Action Society, Women's Aid Organisation, MAC and Empower.
Tomorrow (Saturday, Feb 28), Project GOssip's Party in the Park will be happening at the Esplanade, and it promises a host of interesting activites for everyone.
"This is the first Project GOssip in Penang but it won't be the last. We hope to come back every three months to give more exposure to youths here on what we do, the opportunities available to them, and empower them to make good choices in life," says organiser and Summer Sands CEO Bernard Hor.
Joined by youth volunteers from the Interact Clubs of Penang, the team is currently working on organising their next GOssip on the island in June with a performance platform for indie bands, campus outreach programmes and activities to promote active lifestyle throughout the year.
As for tomorrow, Party in the Park has something for everybody: music, shopping, games, exhibitions and contests!
Admission to all Party at the Park is free. Spread the GOssip around!
