Tuesday February 9, 2010 Ocean Eyes By Nicolas Chua

After the surprising success of Owl City’s first album Maybe I’m Dreaming, Adam Young is back with his second album, Ocean Eyes.

Obviously better than its predecessor, Ocean Eyes features much more complete songs, with the singing playing a greater part than before.

We can’t help but succumb to Owl City’s angelic voice, especially in the most popular track of the album, Fireflies.

The album is classified as “synth-pop”, but it has a rather mellow feel to it, which makes it a pretty soothing record to listen to.

Furthermore, the lyrics aren’t meaningless, and talk about something else than pop music’s typical “I love that girl/guy” or other stuff related to a girl/guy.

An excellent album, although a tad monotonous, that differs from nowadays’ music.
