SOME restaurants, cafés and pubs have always been pet-friendly, but Lilo Art Café, Blink Pets Bakery and Hop Hop Cafe, among others, have all upped the ante by allowing pets to roam freely around their eateries.
Now, you don’t have to keep your pets on a leash. It’s time to bring them out to meet new friends!
Lilo Art Café
Walk in and you’ll be greeted by Roxxie, the resident poodle!
This pet-friendly café serves unconventional, but affordable food for pet owners, such as their signature lamb stew with rice (RM12), red wine paste braised pork belly (RM8.50) and homemade ice cream, like soya with black sesame, as well as mango with lime (RM1.50 each).
They also offer free pork cracklings for pooches that drop by.
Don’t worry if your dog sheds a lot of fur as they have a space outside specifically for them to prevent fur from getting into the food.
Lilo, which has its own pet store, Ohana, plays host to family gatherings and birthday celebrations for pets.
Those interested will have to book the venue one week in advance at RM500 for five hours (food not included).
For more information, head to facebook.com/LilocafeKD or call at 012-309 4855.
Blink Pets Bakery
Want to treat your dogs or cats to something special? Blink Pets Bakery might be the place as it customises birthday cakes for pets. It even has a Party Package that ranges from RM68 to RM318, and allows up to 10 dogs/cats per session.
The package comes with a handmade cake as well as other pastries, such as muffins, cookies and pies. Party hats will also be provided.
All the pastries sold here are organic and do not contain preservatives, salt, sugar, additives or artificial colouring.
And get this – while the delectable muffins, cookies and pies cater to cats and dogs, some customers buy the snacks for their own consumption!
For enquiries, call 012-328 9233 or check out blinkpetsbakery.com.
Hop Hop Cafe
Don’t let the name fool you! While it’s called Hop Hop Cafe, this pet cafe welcomes everyone from bunnies, guinea pigs, dogs, cats and parrots. Oh yes, humans as well!
The cafe has three different sections – an air-conditioned pet-friendly zone to accommodate pet gatherings and parties (three hours for RM150), an area for customers to eat, enjoy their cup of coffee and chill, and lastly, a glass panelled space filled with rabbits.
You can even bring your guinea pigs or rabbits along to fraternise with the rabbits there! And there’s food for all visitors, too!
Pet owners can try out their best selling dish, The Dog Bowl 2.0 (RM12), which comprises fries topped with cheese, and beef bacon or chicken ham served in a … you guessed it, dog bowl!
Other must-try dishes are the Nutella Smores (RM10.50), Summer Berries Mousse (RM12.50) and Molten Nutella Lava Cake (RM13.50). Sinful, huh?
Fret not, it’s all about keeping it healthy in the dog menu, and for the paltry sum of under RM10.
