THIS time next week, a team comprising R.AGE and BRATs journalists will be making a trip to Ipoh to prep the venue for our latest young journalist camp – BRATs Ipoh & Taiping 2014!
The camp will be taking place at MH Hotel from June 4-7, where 40 aspiring young journalists will be trained by the R.AGE/BRATs team as well as photographers and videographers from The Star.
They’ll also get sent on exciting field assignments around Ipoh and Taiping, including a boat trip to Kuala Singga (where you might get to see pink dolphins), a visit to a traditional charcoal factory (an amazing place for photography), and a behind-the-scenes look at how dim sum is made at Ipoh’s famous Foh San restaurant.
Follow us on Twitter (@thestar_rage and @starbrats) to see all the sights in Ipoh and Taiping through our young journalists’ eyes, as they will be tweeting live the whole time (it’s part of their training, of course).
If you’re now kicking yourself for missing out on BRATs Ipoh & Taiping, don’t worry. We still have two more camps this year – in September and December! Email us at brats@thestar.com.my if you’d like to join us!
Also, for all our BRATs alumni around the country, we’re having a mini-reunion at the hotel on June 4. Come join us!
Date: June 4
Time: 7pm onwards
Venue: MH Hotel, Jalan Medan Ipoh, Taman Ipoh Timur, 31400 Ipoh, Perak
RSVP: Email us at brats@thestar.com.my to confirm your attendance.
Make sure you show up with your BRATs T-shirt, notepad and name tag. It’s been 21 years – we won’t recognise some of you without your BRATs T-shirts! =P
