Japanese footwear brand Wakai has arrived in Malaysia! Its first store was launched in Sunway Pyramid recently, and its success has led to stores opening in 1Utama and Queensbay Mall.

R.AGE was invited for a special tour of their first store, and it was a pretty unique experience.

All their stores have different concepts, but the one thing they have in common is the full sensory experience they provide. Everything from the visual displays to the aroma therapy and relaxing tunes they play are tailored to give a relaxing shopping experience.

The shoes themselves are all about pairing style with comfort. The brand’s full name — Wakai ライフスタイル — which means “young lifestyle”, says it all. If you’re young and looking to pull off that effortlessly stylish look, then Wakai would be a good fit for you.

Soon, fans will have more Wakai shoes to choose from as the Fall Winter 2014 collection is expected to arrive in Malaysia in December. With the theme “Crafted By Nature”, the collection will feature earthy tone colours and eco-friendly materials.

And with every pair sold, Wakai will donate a tree through Trees For Future, a nonprofit organisation that helps communities around the world plant trees.

The brand’s grand launch in Sunway Pyramid last month saw appearances from Malaysian celebs such as Malaysian Idol season one runner up Dina Nadzir, YouTubers Joseph Germani, Dennis Yin, blogger Cheeserland, Asia’s Next Top Model cycle one contestant Melissa Th’ng and beatboxer Shawn Lee.
