IT’S one of the country’s biggest school sporting events, and it’s most definitely the craziest.

We’re talking about CHEER, Malaysia’s premier inter-school cheerleading competition!

Get ready for more insane stunts, awesome choreography and a whole lotta screaming, because CHEER, organised by R.AGE, will be back for its 16th edition on August 15.

There will be a change of venue this year, as we move the competition from Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil to the Sunway Pyramid Convention Centre in Petaling Jaya.

But it really doesn’t matter where it’s at, because as long as our cheerleading teams and their fans get together, you know you’ll be in for an amazing experience.

And if you’re not a fan of the Malaysian cheerleading scene yet, it’s time you mark your calendars, because once you’ve seen what these athletes can do, you’ll be hooked.

With only the best teams in the country taking part, big stunts like this happen every other minute at CHEER finals.

The new one-day format for this year’s finals is sure to spice things up, because that means the teams will only have one shot at delivering their routines.

All their hard work in training throughout the year will come down to those few minutes on the mat, so the pressure is going to be incredible.

On top of that, there will be an extra edge to the competition this year as teams can now apply for the CHEER Foundation grant, which will give three deserving secondary school cheerleading teams the chance to get some professional coaching and cheer supplies.

Admission to all CHEER events are free, so if you want to experience what Malaysian cheerleading is all about, then make sure you drop by on Aug 15, from 8am to 6pm.

The Northern and Southern regionals will be held at the end of July.
