IT’S something we’ve always wanted to do, and now it’s finally happening – R.AGE will be giving out grants to three talented cheerleading teams ahead of CHEER 2015!
The CHEER Foundation grant will be giving each winning school RM10,000, which they can use to hire professional cheerleading coaches and equipment.
We’re looking not only for the most talented teams to be given the grant, but also the most deserving ones, the ones that are passionate about the sport, and that hope to leave a positive cheerleading legacy in their schools.
The grants will be given to two existing CHEER teams and one brand new team; so if you’ve always wanted to start a cheerleading team in your school, here’s your chance!
To apply for the grant, you’ll first have to send in a one-minute video of your team performing a routine.
Those forming a new team can find plenty of cheerleading tutorials and resources online. Many current CHEER teams started off with online tutorials as well!
But the most important thing to note is that safety is the number one priority at CHEER. Teams that attempt unsafe stunts in their videos will receive zero points.
In any case, what we really wanna see is your passion, energy and creativity – cheerleading skills are only part of the equation.
Teams will also have to submit their academic results from last year’s final exams, as well as a list of your school’s previous cheerleading achievement, if any.
Last but not least, submit an essay telling us why your team deserves to win the CHEER Foundation grant!
Here’s a breakdown of the selection criteria:
> Cheerleading skills (35%)
> Past participation/achievements (15%)
> Academic performance (25%)
> Essay (25%)
Each team should consist of at least 12 people, and all submissions should come with a letter of recommendation from the school’s principal, with his or her signature, and on the school’s official letterhead.
