IF world domination was what LMFAO was trying to execute with its music, then the duo from Los Angeles has definitely done it. LMFAO has “infected” millions across the globe by turning them into shuffling (dancing) zombies!

Out of nowhere, two guys with big hair, shiny pants, fancy eyewear, and a crazy group of dancers dressed just as flashy – one of whom wears a “boxed robot head” – pop up and suddenly there’s an electropop revolution, or rather, a party rocking revolution.

LMFAO, made up of DJ Redfoo (Stefan Kendal Gordy), DJ Skyblu (Skyler Husten Gordy) and the “Party Rock Crew” made this happen by spreading their first wave of prevalence through an infectious summer single called Party Rock Anthem, which caught massive attention and started a widespread frenzy for their music.

Formed in 2006, LMFAO officially made its mark in the global music market with the release of Party Rock EP in 2008, which included the hit single I’m In Miami Trick. Then came the Sorry For Party Rocking album in 2011, with Party Rock Anthem as its anchor single.

The song put LMFAO on the map, and won the group various awards such as the Hip-Hop Nation Awards (best rap record), the NRJ Music Awards (favourite music video of the year), and also the 2012 Kids’ Choice Awards (favourite song of the year).

Thanks to LMFAO, people who used to think that shuffling (a rave/club dance style that originated from Melbourne, Australia) isn’t so cool would probably change their minds now. And music buffs who have never had a taste for electropop would perhaps give it another chance, and possibly even appreciate it.  Now that’s influence.

“LMFAO is a super group and our mission since the beginning is to change this world into a party planet, one show at a time!” Redfoo was once quoted as saying. Luckily, Malaysia is on their list.

After an unfortunate postponement, LMFAO finally made it back to Malaysian shores on Monday and put up an adrenaline-pumping show at the Sunway Lagoon Surf Beach in Petaling Jaya, Selangor. This was was the group’s second time in the country, having performed at a club stint in Sunway Lagoon Resort in January last year.

The super group – minus DJ Skyblu who is still recuperating from a back injury – killed the Monday blues and rocked it out hard with thousands of fans, putting up a whole new dynamic and energetic performance with new hits.

LMFAO started its set on full throttle with Rock The Beat II, followed by Sorry For Party Rocking, and it wasn’t long until fans heard something a lot more familiar when the intro to I’m In Miami Trick started playing. These bunch of crazy stage  bucks really showed everyrone how to have a good time and drove the crowd wild performing hit songs like Champagne Showers, Shots, and, of course, Party Rock Anthem.

The group also did a few covers of other hits, including a notable one of the Black Eyed Peas’ Boom Boom Pow.

LMFAO’s dance moves, electrifying outfits, attention-grabbing props (there was a huge inflatable zebra on stage) and non-stop bursts of energy turned the show into one big, exciting party. The crowd was “shouting” along to the lyrics of the songs, dancing away to the beats of the music. No one was standing still.

LMFAO also played Sexy And I Know It, a single which local radio stations kept playing over and over again just a few months ago. The group finally did another take of Party Rock Anthem as well as a splendid cover of Live My Life, a song originally by Far East Movement. LMFAO and the Party Rock Crew ended the show by tossing the zebra into the crowd. How’s that for a closing act?
