THE new year is usually a time for new beginnings and resolutions. I could think of a few celebrities who could benefit from a few changes…

in their daily headline-grabbing routine. As per no one’s request, I have decided to make some new year’s resolutions on behalf of some celebrities who hit the headline for all the wrong reasons last year.

Bad, naughty girl

Taylor Momsen is no Jenny Humphrey (the character she plays in the hit TV series Gossip Girl) in real life. Jenny is the least problematic girl on the show, but apparently, it is not the same case off-screen.

Project Runway mentor Tim Gunn, who had a brief stint on Gossip Girl last year, called Taylor “sad” and “pathetic” after working with the actress on set.

He also told E! News that the 17-year-old talent was a diva and said “she was pathetic, she couldn’t remember her lines, and she didn’t even have that many. I thought to myself ‘why are we all being held hostage by this brat?’.”

Taylor, who has a band called The Pretty Reckless, is known for her outrageous statements to the press and barely-there outfits she wears while performing on stage. Her “normal” costume is made up of a bustier, panties, garter belts, stockings and sky-high hooker heels. She completes the look with tonnes of eye make-up, dark, red lipstick and a permanent pout on her frowning face,

New resolution: To wear more clothes and less eyeliner … and oh, think before she speaks.

Where’s the next hit?

Oh gosh, where do we even begin with Lindsay Lohan? The girl has had a terrible 2010 and she has no one to blame but herself.

In July, the actress (can we even call her that anymore?) was sentenced to 90 days in jail after a judge found her guilty of violating her probation (which stemmed from her 2007 DUI offence).

Due to overcrowding, Lindsay was released from the slammer after only 14 days. Lucky her… or so she thought.

Be good this year, Linds.

But two months later, Lindsay was found guilty of failing a mandatory drug test. She was sent to jail again and was released on bail. A few days later, she voluntarily checked into a rehab facility.

Lindsay lost a few business opportunities due to her constant brush with law and was dropped out of the highly-anticipated movie Inferno.

New resolution: To get away from her mother, Dina Lohan (the reason behind her downfall) and surround herself with people who actually want to see her do well.

Oh, snap!

This is another Disney starlet who made the news for all the wrong reasons in 2010. Miley Cyrus was embroiled in quite a few controversies earlier last year, especially for her disregard to clothes while performing on stage. The singer was happy to prance in leotard-esque outfits and simulate kissing acts with female dancers on stage, and this didn’t go well with parents all across America.

More clothes, next time?

She was criticised for her risque dance moves in video clips and the trouble didn’t just end there.

Miley turned 18 late last year and the actress decided to test her new found freedom by smoking an unidentified substance from a bong, which was video taped and made viral online immediately.

Her so-called friends (who were in the original video), mocked the singer’s reaction to getting high by re-enacting the scene with a Miley lookalike and putting the video online as well.

She ended the year on another bad note after a photo of her and her assistant was leaked on the Internet. In that photo, a scantily clad Miley is seen sitting on a sofa while her assistant is trying to kiss her breast.

New resolution: To throw away all cameras and other recording equipment. Oh, and also pick better friends.

Sucker punch

The biggest surprise naughty girl of 2010, Demi Lovato shocked everyone when she voluntarily entered a rehabilitation centre. Though she didn’t check into the facility for substance related issues, the singer nonetheless did raise some eyebrows with the claim that she’s seeking treatment for emotional matters.

Having punched a dancer and getting into a nasty e-mail quarrel with Ashley Greene (now her ex-boyfriend Joe Jonas’ current girlfriend) Demi’s 2010 was quite bad … until scandalous photos of her emerged online.

Not as sweet as she looks...

In one of the shots, the well-endowed girl showed off her boobs in a lacy, push up bra while her dancer tried to lick her breast. (What is up with girls and posing like this?)

Demi, who is publicly on the outs with her former best friend and another Disney darling, Selena Gomez, is still in rehab and will remain there until further notice.

New resolution: Get better taste. Dating a Jonas brother … seriously?
