Boy, Magic: the Gathering (MTG) and World of Warcraft TCG (WoW TCG in short) fans are set for an exciting April…

as each game will see its own awesome and kick@$$ products then.

Men versus beast: who will prevail?

For MTG fans, April 1 (that’s this Friday!) is the official sale date for Duel Decks: Knights vs Dragons, an intermediate-level product for two players. If you need two ready-to-play 60-card casual and fun decks, look no further!

And true to past Duel Decks, there will be a handful of cards that will be reprinted in foil, and alternate art. I’m keen on getting it just for the sake of the awesome-looking Knight of the Reliquary – yep, this tournament staple looks mighty gorgeous!

Like the name suggests, the two-player product pits the White-Green Knights against the mono-Red Dragons (aided by their most loyal minions, Goblins).

It’s a perfect casual product: as the article’s writer Chris Millar explains, it follows the standard beginner-to-intermediate-level style of deckbuilding. Plenty of one-of and two-of card choices, so that every game should be different, and surprising in a fun way.

I heartily recommend this as an entry-level MTG product for two players: while I have not tried it, I reckon that it’s got a little bit more power compared to the latest Intro Packs. Give them a whirl!

On an unrelated but equally exciting MTG announcement, Wizards.com have also confirmed on March 30, that the next and final expansion of the Scars of Mirrodin block, will be New Phyrexia (http://bit.ly/gZyvAw).

This ends all speculation on who wins the war in the latest block: Wizards had announced last year that the third and final set will see a “conclusion” in the war between the “good” Mirrans and the “evil” Phyrexians.

The set will be first available via prerelease events during the weekend of May 7 and 8: watch this space for prereleases here!

Elements will be raining hard

On the WoW TCG front, War of the Elements, set 2 of the Worldbreaker block, will debut globally by mid-April.

Local suppliers are anticipating arrivals of the stock around the same time – so WoW TCG nutters rejoice!

Head over www.wowtcg.com for the daily preview articles. From the early glimpses of the set, it looks like there’s a heavier emphasis on class specialization: your deck may only contain Ability cards from one spec, and nothing else.

For example, your Rogue may use only Subtlety talent cards, so you cannot put any Assassination and Combat Rogue cards (“Shadow Dance”). Using the Enhancement Shaman card “Totemic Vigor” meanwhile means that you can’t have Elemental or Restoration Talent cards in the same deck. And so forth.

The initial impression is that these cards are meant to reward you for sticking to specific Talent specs: more power to you, should you skip the other specs.
