I’ve been pretty much sucked in the whole Star Wars Living Card Game phenomenon, and it’s been interesting trying to figure up card combos.
The game’s unique pod system (where deckbuilding incorporates six-card pods, instead of individual cards) certainly makes it more fun and refreshing.
Right now, I’ve crafted a Rebel Alliance deck that has a bunch of the new Hoth cards from the first three Force Packs, one Jedi deck that utilizes mostly Core Set cards, and a Sith-Imperial Navy deck that’s also mainly Core Set-driven.
Using the CardgameDB.com website as a source of reference, there’s certainly plenty of ways to go around building decks. I’ve been observing so far that the Sith and Jedi decks are by far the more powerful of the lot.
The leading “stars” of the Star Wars universe, Darth Vader, Emperor Palpatine, Luke Skywalker, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Yoda are some of the most efficient cards in the game, and landing one on the table is almost a sure way of winning games.
With plenty of new sets to come, I’m wondering if the upcoming stuff, such as AT-ATs, the Millennium Falcon, Jabba the Hutt, Lando Calrissian, Chewbacca and even the almighty Executor, can go toe to toe in terms of efficiency, with the Core Set staples?
All the cards I just mentioned, ought to be reaching here in a month or two, in The Battle of Hoth Force Pack and The Edge of Darkness deluxe expansion. Let’s see if SW LCG’s still mainly Core Set-based, or not, by then!
