IN less than five days after Elliot Rodger’s misogyny-fuelled attack in California, the hashtag #YesAllWomen had been tweeted over 1.8 million times. Why? Simple: because women are tired of being told “not all women” experience sexism and misogyny.
The #YesAllWomen tweets exposed the barrage of subtle (and not so subtle) sexism endured by women every day – inappropriate advances from men, condescending language in the workplace, victim-blaming, slut-shaming, sexist-sensationalist click-bait headlines on the Internet and so on. They leave little doubt that women still live in a world where their chances of being discriminated, objectified and abused are higher, simply because they are women.
Now it’s time Malaysian women had their say as well. Over the past few days, we’ve been collecting stories on Twitter showing how ALL Malaysian women have been subjected to sexism one way or another – and we want to hear your story too.
Tweet us at @thestar rage with the hashtag #AllMalaysianWomen, and help us get this conversation going, so we can all be that much more educated about sexism and misogyny.
We’ve already received and shared countless #AllMalaysianWomen tweets, including the ones you see here.

#AllMalaysianWomen unwanted advances only cease at "I have a bf" as own "No thanks" is deemed less important than another casino online man's disapproval.
