It’s a resort that has housed princes and billionaires. And now it’s gonna house 40 eager teen journalists.
Casabrina, the six-star luxury resort hidden in the hills of Raub, Pahang, will be the venue for our upcoming BRATs young journalist camp on March 18-21.
Now we gotta be honest, we thought our camp last year in the five-star Berjaya Langkawi Resort was as good as it was gonna get. We were wrong.
Turns out Casabrina owner Felix Tee was so impressed by the BRATs’ work over the past couple of years, he wanted to give them a chance to experience the little slice of paradise he’s carved out in Raub.
“They see things with such fresh eyes,” he told us over a very delicious dinner at Casabrina. “They tell stories with such a genuine perspective. That’s why I want them to experience what we have here. I think they will love it.”
Felix was kind enough to allow us to check out the place a few weekends ago, and it was just amazing.
Casabrina has two villas at the moment, and a few more on the way. We stayed at Amertani, which is the main villa. It has four rooms, and ours was simply magnificent. It had not one, not two, but THREE day beds. And who doesn’t like DAY BEDS???
You can rent out the entire main villa on a RM15,500 two-day package, which includes a private chef, butler service, six customisable meals a day, car & driver and a 24-hour fully-stock pantry.
But aside from the plush accommodation, one of the main attractions of Casabrina is the weather. It’s usually around 25-28 degrees in the afternoon!
Anyway, we don’t wanna give too much away. If you wanna join us at Casabrina, then sign up for the BRATs Raub 2015 camp.
How to get to Casabrina:
What’s BRATS?
It’s only the most awesome young journalist programme in the country! It started in 1993, and we’ve been training talented teenagers in our ways ever since.
We organise three journalism camps every year, each in a different city, with 40 new participants. We give them a crash course in writing, interviewing, photography, videography, etc., and then we send them out on amazing field assignments, stuff other people NEVER get to do.
For example, one of the assignments at BRATs Raub will be a visit to the Kuala Gandah elephant sanctuary, where the BRATs will get up-close-and-personal with the elephants.
The best part, of course, is you get to experience everything with a bunch of teenagers who’re just as crazy and awesome as you are.
Sounds like fun? You can sign up for BRATs here.
