THIS weekend at Stadium Putra, Bukit Jalil, something epic is gonna happen.
About 10,000 young people will be turning up by the busloads to experience one of the most exciting, breath-taking sports and entertainment spectacles in Malaysia – the CHEER finals.
Yeah, some of you will snigger cos it’s just a secondary school cheerleading competition, but for anyone who’s been to a CHEER final, it’s never just a secondary school cheerleading competition.
It’s a testament to what young Malaysian athletes can achieve when they push their bodies and minds to the limit, and work together as one.
Every year, the stunts get bigger, the tosses go higher and the flips and somersaults get more mind-blowing.
The teamwork and team spirit, too, seems to improve every year.
But one thing always remains the same – the fans are always loud, and always proud.
That’s why CHEER 2014 is celebrating its 15th anniversary this year. Things have gotten bigger, better and bolder ever since the first CHEER event in 2000.
So join us this Saturday and Sunday, when the 33 teams will each get to perform their routines twice.
Bear in mind, these teams have worked tirelessly on their routines for pretty much the entire year, so there’s a lot riding on these two days.
Be prepared for an electric atmosphere.
Admission is free to all members of the public, so just drop by Stadium Putra, walk right in, and enjoy the show.
And for all you CHEER teams out there reading this – keep on reaching for the stars.
* CHEER 2014 is organised by R.AGE. It is co-sponsored by U Mobile and SimplySiti. Red FM is the official radio station.
