’ALL know that I’m a super Spice Girls fan right, and last week I had the chance to meet Mel B aka Scary Spice!
Well, Victoria Beckham aka Posh Spice is my favourite “Spice Girl” but meeting Mel B (Melanie Brown) was definitely a chance I didn’t want to miss.
The singer was at the launch of Fitness First’s International Fitness Week at Mutiara Damansara in Selangor, and the mother of three looks simply fabulous. Like really, super, awesome fabulous. (Erm, do I sound like a giddy schoolgirl?)
“We’ve really made some fantastic progress over the last three years by helping people make exercise part of their everyday life. I’m proud to be a part of it and can’t wait to bring International Fitness Week back next year,” said Mel B, the global ambassador for the campaign.
If you’re a fan of her reality TV show Mel B: It’s A Scary World, you would know that the singer/businesswoman is into fitness and loves a good workout – be it hiking up a canyon or going on a 10km run. She even has her own fitness video.
But like everybody else, she, too, has days when she simply doesn’t feel like working out or even getting out of bed.
“If I don’t feel like working out, I won’t. But I would try not to let the lazy days prolong. I just tell my friends and they would bug me to get moving again,” said the 36-year-old singer.
Now we know Mel B is not the only celebrity in Hollywood who works hard to fit into the tiniest of clothes and look fabulous at all times.
Let’s see how some of the other ladies keep their fitness in check and their bodies tight.
Devoted to gym
Nicole Richie goes to the gym everyday. How would anyone know that? Well, because there are paparazzi shots on the Internet of her getting to and from the gym everyday. The starlet was never in the plus-size department to begin with but she is definitely rocking a hard body nowadays. Good to note that she has not relapsed to her rail-thin, count-my-ribs look that she favoured a few years back.
Also giving Nicole a run for her money in the gym-freak category is reality TV starlet Kim Kardashian, who often hits the gym sans make-up. Kim, who admits to having a sweet tooth, is a follower of Barry’s Bootcamp programme and credits cardio workouts as the reason why she gets to flaunt her body in skimpy bikinis.
Outdoor-sy gals
Jessica Biel, Reese Witherspoon and Cameron Diaz are just some of the gals who’d rather do outdoor activities to keep fit than hit the gym.
We have often seen Jessica go for long walks with her dogs (her ex-boyfriend Justin Timberlake used to join her for the workouts then) and the actress prefers climbing, hiking, and running to sweating it out on a treadmill.
Reese is also a runner, and has often been photographed out for a long run or walk in shorts and running shoes. That’s how the actress keeps her petite body in shape, and de-stress after a long day.
Cameron is not a runner, preferring fun activities like surfing and hiking to keep her body fit.
Calm and collected
Jennifer Aniston must be one of the hottest 42-year-old women in the world. The actress is still rocking skimpy bikinis and her strong, fit body could put ladies half her age to shame!
Jennifer swears by pilates and yoga for maintaining her hot bod.
Another celebrity who swears by yoga is none other than the Queen of Pop, Madonna, herself. Now we know that the 53-year-old performer is crazy about ashtanga yoga (a really, super difficult form of yoga) and her scary veiny arms are proof of that.
The mother-of-four is one heck of a fit woman and her muscles are so defined that they look scary sometimes.
Dance it off
Not everyone is into gym or outdoor activities when it comes to burning calories. Britney Spears is an awesome dancer and she uses just that particular talent to stay fab, and fit into the cute costumes she wears during her stage performances.
Remember when Brit had her meltdown and put on a few extra pounds – it was dancing that helped her whip her butt back into shape.
Keeping fit on another form of dancing are none other than Emma Roberts and Fergie. They prefer pole-dancing to the traditional form of dancing. Recently, Emma told Women’s Health magazine that she took up pole dancing classes with friends as a way to workout and hang out. She thinks that it is also a great way to build self-confidence.
Fergie, who took up the activity during the filming of the movie Burlesque, even said that she has fitted a pole in her bedroom, so that she can dance any time she wants.
Sharm says: I’m trying to come up with a way to lose weight by doing nothing. Unfortunately, it’s not going too well…
