TWO matters hogged the Hollywood headlines last week — one was Glee, while the other was the split of a few prominent couples.

Gleeful over Glee

Our favourite musical TV series had a spectacular season two opener on US television schedules, and scored its highest viewing ratings yet. About 13.6 million American households tuned in to watch the show that features the members of a high school glee (talent) club in Ohio.

Glee is back!

Glee is back!

The producers have some surprises for the show, among them a Madonna-themed episode.

There were rumours that Madonna initially didn’t approve of the way the Glee cast interpreted her songs but of course, none of them were true.

The Huffington Post reported that Madonna was happy with the episode, and more importantly, with Matthew Morrison’s character.

The Material Girl sent a statement to Fox (the US television network that Glee is on) saying, ”I think Mr Schuester (Matthew’s character) is very cute.” Jesus Luz better watch his back … Matthew might just replace him as Madonna’s new boy toy.

Sharm says: Can’t wait to catch the second season of Glee. The Lady Gaga-themed episode is going to be a killer one and yes, I also can’t wait to see Jennifer Lopez singing (badly) in it, too.

More break ups

News talkshow king, Larry King, filed for a divorce — his eighth to be precise — last week. He and wife Shawn Southwick cited irreconcilable differences in their divorce application. Access Hollywood has confirmed that the couple did not have a prenuptial agreement (Larry should’ve known better!) during their 1997 wedding. Nevertheless, it is reported that there was some other type of agreement they made that will be brought up during the divorce proceedings.

There are rumours of infidelity on both sides (Larry … really?) but neither party has denied or confirmed any of it.

Meanwhile, X17online reported that a reality TV show caused the second (and final, hopefully) break up between Paris Hilton and Doug Reinhart.

Paris is single. Any takers?

Paris is single. Any takers?

Doug apparently had tried to pitch a reality show behind her back. Paris, who already has a reality TV show, couldn’t legally participate in Doug’s quest for fame, and his constant desire for a permanent spot in the limelight was a total turn-off for her.

The website also added that Paris who’s been used by other people before, was disappointed to find out that Doug was just like everyone else.

Also on last week’s break-up list were Mel Gibson and Melissa Etheridge, erm, not from each other, of course. Yes, like I said, there have been many break ups this spring!

Mel said sayonara to his girlfriend and mother of five-month old baby, Oksana Grigorieva, and news has it that the couple had just drifted apart. Of course, like every Hollywood couple that split, they, too, claim that they remain friends and will raise the baby in a happy environment.

On the other hand, Melissa and her partner of almost nine years, Tammy Etheridge, have separated. The couple exchanged formal vows in 2003 and are parents to three-year-old twins, conceived with the help of an anonymous sperm donor.

”Melissa and Tammy Etheridge are saddened to announce that they are now separated,” Melissa’s representative told People.

”We ask for consideration and respect for our family as we go through this difficult period,” went the statement.

Sharm says: When will celebrities learn that Hollywood marriages never last? Why even bother trying?
