THE mere mention of Hong Kong is often met with a squeal of delight from shopping enthusiasts, and for good reason.
Shopping in Hong Kong is a joy, and apart from the myriad of options when it comes to international fashion brands, there are heaps of notable local brands that have come out of this bustling metropolis.
Among them is Bossini, a brand that has been in Malaysia for quite a number of years and which just recently launched its latest winter collection.
At the press event in Hong Kong two weeks ago, Bossini revealed their “Be Happy Me” collection to regional media, with the help of what they call their “happy icons”. These are singer-songwriter and actor Aarif Lee; actress and model Janice Man; travel host Helen To; and football star Chan Siu-Ki.
Known for comfortable, colourful and easy to match casual clothes, Bossini embodies the quirky (but practical) Hong Kong fashion sense 100%.
Walk into any of their stores and you’ll immediately be hit by a flash of colours, neatly organised on racks and shelves, with featured pieces adorning the walls and mannequins.
Be Happy Me offers shoppers warm clothing at reasonable prices, and while the collection sticks to the quirky spirit of Hong Kong fashion, you can’t help but adore how practical and comfortable the clothes are, winter or no winter.
Hoodies and long-sleeved tunics for women come in various colours and aren’t too thick so you can probably wear them in Malaysia (especially for those of us who are constantly confined in air-conditioned places).
For guys, there is an equal amount of wonderfully comfortable and fun pieces both for the urban dresser and the “man’s man”. You can get stuff like skinny denim jeans and basic, plain-coloured polo tees on the racks at reasonable prices.
To match the various tunics and jackets is a collection of scarves, leggings, belts and headgear – little additions that make each outfit so much more interesting.
Hoodies, sweaters, jackets and warm clothing may be the main focus of the season at the moment, but among these warm options there are some cute casual pieces to be found in the stores.
What always amazes me when I walk down the streets of Hong Kong is the number of people wearing T-shirts with witty and fun catchphrases on them, and you can find a lot of these in Bossini.
If you can’t get enough of your words and phrases, many of their jackets and cardigans also come with cute words and interesting art, whether printed, embroidered, or lettered in sequins.
Casual denim shorts sprinkled with stardust, plain slim fit jeans in various colours and impressively comfortable undergarments and sleeping gear are also a highlight of the brand.
The Be Happy Me collection, along with Bossini’s regular products, are currently available in Malaysia, so go on and check them out.
