Magic fans will be pumped with excitement at the weekend unveiling of Innistrad’s first official previews. Wizards.com and GatheringMagic.com has spades of info, so dive into those sites already if you have not!

There’s been plenty of talking points for sure, but the double-sided “double-faced” cards and the new dual lands have been my favourites so far.

Wizards.com has the full rules on the new card types here, but what we’re seeing will definitely shake up the way people craft their decks and play their games. Looking at Gatstaf Shepherd as an example, the minds will already start thinking ways to ensure that the Gatstaf Howler remains right side up.

How does one ensure that players play no more than one spell a turn? Is there a trick to this? Will – gasp – early game land destruction do?

Magic players must also be delighted at the new enemy dual lands, modelled after the Core Set ones. Expect these to be hot when they first roll in, with prices cooling after players accumulate playsets.

And speaking about lands, Ghost Quarter is back! First seen in Ravnica, this reprint will cool it’s pricing a bit, after the Modern format announcement. New and old players will definitely find a home for this incredibly versatile and useful card.

Very well-played so far Wizards, and I’m sure you can’t wait for the cards to arrive in several weeks time. The horror-theme will make this an October to remember, for sure!
