Magic: the Gathering fans are eagerly awaiting the weekend as Worldwake is set to debut worldwide, including Malaysia, through prerelease tournaments.
I had already posted links and general info culled from various websites last week so do check it out once again if you have not.
A big heap of thanks to QJ Wong, who is the founder and head honcho of MagicMalaysia.net, a really fine and uber source on all Magic happenings and news, for us Malaysian fans, who has compiled the long list of prerelease event locations here.
So what’s a prerelease event / tournament? TCG (trading card game) sets such as Magic and WoW (World of Warcraft) are often “previewed” in small quantities before they are available for mass consumption.
In Magic’s case, this happens a week prior to the set going sale at better game and specialty stores everywhere.
Now, in a prerelease tournament, you construct a 40-card deck from a handful of packs (Worldwake events will have three Zendikar and three Worldwake), and play 4 games with them. (Land cards are given free, so that leaves you choosing 20-odd cards for the deck.)
Well, it turns out that QJ has done his homework and put in all the useful links for prereleases and Worldwake, in his article. Do read the prerelease primer especially – it will enlighten you on all you need to know about such events.
Good luck tomorrow, have fun, and may you get all the cards you desire!
