What sort of experience encompasses holding penguins and patting seals, having adorable little monkeys sit on your shoulders and sailing the Andaman Sea? BRATs Langkawi, of course!
The young journalist camp saw 37 talented teen journalists set off on an amazing adventure – to uncover the best stories they could find on the island paradise of Langkawi. Check out these links!
- Under the sea | The BRATs had a whale of a time going behind the scenes at Underwater World Langkawi.
- Langkawi’s eco warriors | Meet the unlikely warriors who are helping protect Langkawi’s ecosystem.
- All aboard! | Being a cruise crew member can be challenging and isn’t always smooth sailing.
- #BRATSPEAK | Our recent graduates tell us how awesome BRATs Langkawi was.
To help them accomplish all that, the camp facilitators (professional journalists from R.AGE and The Star) arranged a few field assignments for the BRATs to report on.
The assignments included once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like going into the penguin enclosures at Underwater World Langkawi, and getting to play with a pair of super-friendly seals.
The group also sailed the high seas thanks to an educational cruise by Tropical Charters, and spoke to a group of buskers who entertain tourists every night at Langkawi’s famous Pantai Cenang.
Unsurprisingly, they uncovered some amazing stories during those field assignments, which we’ve published here from pages four to seven. We’ll publish more next Tuesday!
You can also watch the videos they produced at rage.com.my/brats. So, what’re you waiting for? Dive in and experience Langkawi through the BRATs’ eyes!
