Magic: the Gathering fans are definitely pumped over the upcoming New Phyrexia expansion set, which will be the third and concluding set of the Scars of Mirrodin block.
Based on the premise of the Phyrexians victory over the Mirrans, the bulk of the cards in the expansion set are actually Phyrexian in theme.
You can so tell from the artwork, the names and the overall mechanics of the cards. I mean, how can you not tell that Chancellor of the Dross, Hex Parasite and Fresh Meat, are all rather evil and nefarious, in a cool and Phyrexian way?
Local fans will be pleased to note that local prerelease tournaments are pretty much going to be held around the Klang Valley area, on May 7 and 8 (that’s Saturday and Sunday folks).
Yup, it’s prerelease time again: looks like at least a few stores here will be holding your regular sealed deck competitions, for players to have a go at the new set, in a sneak preview and pretty fun yet competitive way.
Game to see if you’ve got what it takes to build a 40-card deck, from a pool of five to six booster packs? That’s around 23 to 25 non-land cards – basic lands are always provided at no additional charge, during pre-release events.
A KL area tournament organizer, Michael Toh, will be holding New Phyrexia pre-release events in Millennium Square, Section 14, Petaling Jaya. It goes without saying that there’ll be tons of swag for this one: yes, we’re talking New Phyrexia packs, and other cool premiums, so be there or be square!
Interested in previews? Then try Mananation.com: it’s got tons of visual and text spoilers, and is pretty much the most up-to-date when it comes to all things Magic.
