PORN has become increasingly accessible because, well, the Internet happened.
As renowned psychologist Philip Zimbardo puts it, it’s the first time in human history where porn is freely available. Of course, he didn’t make it sound like it was good news.
This widespread availability of porn, unfortunately, has led to plenty of porn-related crimes over the past few years, and quite a lot of them in Malaysia, too!
What exactly are porn-related crimes, you ask? Here are just a few cases R.AGE was able to dig up over the past few years:
2014
In a similar case to the Kota Baru one, another young man had to have the KL Fire & Rescue Department remove this ring from his private parts.
Technically not a crime, but in August 2014, firemen were called to a Kota Baru hospital to help remove a metal ring stuck around a young man’s private parts. According to sources in the hospital, the man was watching porn with the apparatus on but couldn’t remove it after he had climaxed.
In November 2014, according to a report in Harian Metro, a woman divorced her 30-year-old husband because he had constantly sodomised her after becoming addicted to watching pornographic DVDs. The woman claimed the husband was emulating the extreme acts he had seen on the DVDs and became increasingly verbally abusive when she did not give in to his sexual demands.
2013
Two brothers aged eight and 10, allegedly forced a Year One student to perform oral sex on them after browsing an adult movie site on their school computer (the site was not filtered by the school’s blocking software). The brothers then apparently wanted to re-enact what they had seen on the site.
Four secondary school students in Malacca who had played truant, were held captive by a masseur who made them watch a pornographic movie and then sodomised them and forced them to perform unspeakable sexual acts. Police later rescued the students and detained the masseur.
Three Malaysians were among 1,000 suspected paedophiles around the globe tricked into engaging a computer-generated child for sex tourism. Their names were later handed to Interpol for further action.
2012
A Malaysian man was sentenced to nine months jail in the Perth District Court for importing child pornography after baggage examination officers found an external drive containing images of naked girls under the age of 18.
2011
In November 2011, a father in Kota Kinabalu molested his eight-year-old daughter while watching a porn flick. The terrified girl later told her mother, who immediately lodged a police report.
A seven-year-old girl was gang raped by four boys between the ages of 10 and 13, who were her schoolmates. The boys were inspired to commit the heinous act after watching porn movies and one even showed their victim a clip on his handphone, which depicted what they were going to do to her.
A bus driver who played a pornographic video for a woman on a trip from KL to Malacca was sentenced to three years’ jail. He was arrested after policeman heard the woman’s screams.
2010
A 15-year-old boy in Kuching raped his six-year-old neighbour, and claimed it was watching pornographic VCDs that drove him to do it, as he wanted to experiment with what he had seen in the videos.
Handphone kiosk operator Tang, 21, was charged with possessing porn material.
Mobile phone trader Tang Wei Khang was fined RM10,000 for possessing a laptop containing several pornographic video clips, an offence under Section 5(1)(a) of the Film Censorship Act 2002.

Porn has become a fixture in your life, and you can’t stop watching it on a regular basis.
Escalation
You start looking for more hardcore porn, especially things you would have previously found unappealing.
Desensitisation
Even the most extreme, hardcore porn doesn’t excite you anymore, and you become desperate for the thrill you used to get.
Acting out sexually
This is where things get really dangerous. The only way for you to feel sexually excited would be to act out your sexual fantasies, which would probably be pretty messed up by now.
