TWO weeks ago, we held our BRATs Ipoh & Taiping 2014 workshop, where 40 teen journalists were sent on an adventure of a lifetime – which included a visit to a real-life (former) pirate bay.
Naturally, when you have 40 up and coming journalists going on such an epic journey, you’re gonna get some great stories.
Last week, we published their stories and photos from Ipoh, where they toured the city’s heritage sites, learnt how Ipoh white coffee is made, and went behind the scenes of the famous Foh San dim sum restaurant.
Of course, that was after editors and journalists from R.AGE and The Star had given them a full day of journalism workshops, which were held at MH Hotel, Ipoh. We’re talking about interviewing and news writing skills, photography, videography, social media reporting and more.
And the day after their Ipoh field assignments, we brought the participants to Taiping for a day trip. Some of the following pages contain their stories from that excursion. Enjoy! =)
