SO, what does it take to be a young motorcycling star? Shafiq, who recently finished an impressive fifth in the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup, gives us the low-down on his training regime.
1. Jogs for an hour in the morning at the park near his house
2. Gets sufficient rest in the afternoon
3. In the evening, he either jogs for another hour, swims for an hour and a half, or hits the gym to do some weights for two hours.
4. Over the weekend, he heads to Seremban to train with an instructor. There, he fine-tunes his track skills, like how to take corners, overtake and brake at the right time.
5. He also watches his diet because his speed on the bike is dependent on his weight. He consumes small portions of rice, topping up on vegetables and fruits instead.
