WHEN I sat down to think about what I wanted to write for my very first R.AGE column, I knew it had to be good. I wanted to cover something interesting, educational, and most importantly, trending. After thinking long and hard, it finally came to me – KYLIE JENNER’S LIPS.

They are a thing of wonder, really, and I’m not the only one who thinks so.

Hundreds of thousands have (rather foolishly) partaken in the #kyliejennerlipchallenge – sucking on a cylindrical object (mostly shot glasses) until so much blood gets pumped into your lips, they balloon up to Angelina Jolie proportions. Some have ended up in hospital taking on the challenge.

Note: Kylie Jenner has confessed to using lip fillers so let’s put aside the mental image of her sucking on shot glasses every morning before putting on her makeup.

Whilst Kylie’s pucker is achieved through fillers, I’ll show you how to enhance your lips beautifully without excessive amounts of cash, or the trauma of sucking on random cylindrical objects. Here’s what you’ll need:

1. Two lip liners – one your natural lip colour, and one slightly darker.

2. One lipstick.

3. One lip gloss.

4. Optional: contouring powder.

To start off, line and fill in your lips with the lighter lip liner.

1
You want to draw slightly outside your regular lip line to give your lips the appearance of being larger.

2
Next (and here’s the important part), using the darker lip liner, outline both the top and bottom lips in the centre, working your way outwards from your cupid’s bow until you’re about halfway to the corners of your lips.

3

Use your finger to blend the darker lip liner with the lighter one so that the edges aren’t too obvious. This gives you the illusion of shadow, making your lips look fuller and poutier.

4
Next, apply your lipstick. Finish off with a coat of lip gloss, focusing on the centre of the lips.

5

Here’s a little tip: you can get lip-plumping glosses that help to bring some blood to the lips, making them look fuller. My favourite is the Dior Lip Maximizer.
And there you have it – your new pout á la Kylie Jenner. You’re welcome.

I lost my mother to the Japanese war

Whenever Allied planes bombed Sandakan town as part of its campaign to liberate Borneo, Daniel Chin Tung Foh’s grandfather would rush the whole family into a bomb shelter behind their house.  During its heyday, the British North Borneo Company had developed Sandakan into a major commercial and trading hub for timber, as well as […]
