LAST Saturday, thousands made their way to the Kuala Lumpur Performing Arts Centre (Klpac) in Sentul, Kuala Lumpur, to check out Urbanscapes.

It’s  an annual arts festival organised by Freeform.

A diverse bunch of young people packed into the performance areas and took breaks by walking through the many stalls selling clothes, art and knick-knacks.

Ladies taking on quirky style and summer fashion were out and about all day long, and some were happy to talk about their outfits and to have their pictures taken, too.

Her heels (a brave feat for KLpac’s terrain) are from Nichii, while her completely sequined bag — a real beauty — is also from Cotton On.

”On a hot day like today I felt like going casual with my clothes, but chic with my shoes.”

Nafisa Abd Wahab knew that there would be a lot of people at the event, and just wanted to look fashionable in her floral top and tight skirt.

”Almost everything I’m dressed in today are from quirky little boutiques and second hand stores. Even the accessories.”

She braided sections of her hair to keep her long, black mane tidy.

”I chose to wear jeans because I’m going to be here pretty much the whole day, and who knows when the weather will change. Plus I’ll be spending some time in the air-conditioned area, where the performances are going to be held.”

Cynthia Ong paired a tie-dyed long skirt with a racerback as well as a loose top, adorning her wrists with ethnic-inspired bangles.

”I just felt like getting into the bohemian spirit of urbanscapes!”
