When else can you throw on gawdawful makeup, fishnet stockings and wear your lingerie out?
Hence, without fail, I try to make it to the annual festivity, and I always dress up.
My friends are great that way – they’re open to new experiences and are the first to jump up and say ‘Let’s go!’ at a second’s notice. Of course, planning for Halloween wasn’t at a second’s notice. We were thinking of our outfits weeks before.
This year we went to our favourite club, Velvet, on Jalan Ampang, the the V.A.M.P (Vampires and Monsters Party)
Nadine went as a sexy Mrs Dracula (complete with fangs), Carol as a dead cheerleader (although she did look suspiciously … flushed), Alexandra as a French maid (she didn’t come to Velvet but was with us earlier at another venue) and I came as Major Hustler, baby.
My ex coursemate Angela came as a Playboy Bunny.
And wow, did Zouk dress up! Even from our car in traffic we were surrounded by drivers in full Halloween costume. A group of very hunky Spartans stepped out of the car next to us, accompanied by their Roman Goddesses.
Just about everyone lining up to get into the club was dressed up! Many stuck to the theme, probably because there was a Best Dressed award up for grabs (RM1000!!), but most ended up looking like their makeup had smudged something awful.
However, some pulled off the gross Monster/Vampire look pretty well. Among them, my friend Yue Lyn.
Heaps of people came in masks – but by far this was the best one I saw.
And yes, I do know who that is 🙂
We’re so awesome we’re even in the Zouk Gallery on Facebook.
So yea, why do we love Halloween? Just once a year, no-one will judge you for your choice of clothing. No-one will say, OMG fishnet stockings what a s*ut!!! No one will say, what’s that gawdawful red stuff on your hands, and if you’re lucky, no one will recognise you 🙂
Tell us what you think!
